Here we have an example of classical Indian architecture. It features an adhisthana, which is the base of the Hindu temple. The temple also shows many andas, or hemispherical domes. There are many dhvaja stambhas (pillars) adjoined to the base, supporting the structure. The temple can be defined as brhad, meaning great or large.
Greek architecture was composed of architecture orders developed by the Romans. In this example, we have three orders; Doric, Ionic, and the Corinthian orders. The Doric order is seen as simple. It was rather sturdy and plain. The Ionic order is slimmer and more elegant than the Doric order. The capitals were decorated with a volute (scroll-like design). The Corinthian order is seen on classical Greek architecture, but mainly in Roman architecture. It was a very elaborate and elegant style, with its capitals decorated with acanthus leaves.
Roman architecture was very clever, elaborate and elegant. It featured great pillars supporting broad arches and domes rather than dense lines of columns suspending flat architraves. The Romans also found use for mosaics, which are decorative colored stones set in concrete. Roman architecture later influenced many other architectural styles in the modern world.
Mesoamerican architecture had a great complexity of patterns and a variety of media expressions. It boasted Impressive temples and stepped pyramids, with carved friezes and roof combs. Vaults and Arches were also displayed in tombs. Mesoamerican architecture was also very accurate and precise, showing engineering excellence similar to the Romans.
